HOW TO GET OUT OF A SH*TTY MOOD

1. Get off social media

Let’s be honest, social media is an escape. It’s entertaining and sometimes takes you into a different world. It’s also my job, and something I’m so grateful for. It’s a love hate relationship. You can have the busiest day with a list of things to do, you take a minute to check your phone and boom! You’re scrolling through your home page or tapping through stories and you dive so deep into someone’s life that you forget about everything else going on in yours. It’s almost captivating. But it can also be toxic. Often you may find yourself comparing, and that right there is one of the worst things you could do. So take some time off, put your phone down in the afternoon and live in the moment. You will have so much more fun wherever you are.

2. Stay Active

Whether it’s a walk in the neighborhood or a workout, we all know how important staying active really is. I could be in the worst mood ever and after a workout I’m a whole new person. It’s a great way to start the day and set the tone.

3. Spend time with the people you love

Whether it’s with your friends or family, your time is precious; so cherish it. If being around certain people brings you down stay away from them. Stick to positive energy and uplifting vibes. Think of what you look for in a person that’s close to you and look for those qualities in your circle. I look for: Positivity, selflessness, motivation, support, kindness, and generosity. So thankful that my family and close friends carry all of these amazing qualities. I don’t know what I would have done without them this year.

4. Do something for YOU

Take the time out of your day or week to do something that you love, or something that focuses on just you. Whether you’re a mom, a wife, a girlfriend, a daughter, an employee or a boss; It can be so easy to fall into our selfless nature and forget all about our feelings. It’s important to give your best to everyone around you, but it’s also important to put yourself first. You can’t fill from an empty cup. So do something for YOU! Whether it’s a workout, cooking (if you enjoy it), a hobby, a blog, your nails, a face mask, a bath etc. Do something that fills your soul.

5. Help someone in need

There’s no better feeling in the world. Help someone who needs it. Whether it’s paying it forward at Starbucks, feeding the homeless, or babysitting for someone who needs it. Making the effort to be kind to someone else will help shift your focus from your sh*tty mood, and will make you feel so good inside.

6. Take the day OFF

If nothing seems to be working, your body might just be simply be asking for a break. To me that sounds like a day of me sitting on the couch binge watching a show and eating good food.

7. Get to the root of the problem

What’s causing you to feel this way? And what can you do to fix it? Example: Are you stressed from your heavy workload and having trouble balancing it with other responsibilities? Simply ask for help.

8. Accept it

It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to have struggles, and it’s okay to feel down. Nobody is perfect, no matter how hard they try to show you that. Everybody is going through there own battles, and sometimes we just have to accept that this is just a phase and it may eventually pass.

What do you do to get out of a sh*tty mood?
